Soap maker’s procurement reality — cold vs hot process

Cold-process soap (CP)

Saponification happens at 40-50°C over 24-48 hours. Essential oils + fragrance oils added at trace temperature ~40°C. Flash-point becomes critical: anything below 65°C risks burning off during saponification.

Our soap-stable EOs: Lavender, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Clove, Patchouli, Vetiver, Lemongrass. All flash-point >65°C.

Hot-process / melt-and-pour

Soap base melted at 70-90°C. Fragrance added at lower-temp pouring stage. More flexible — most essential oils work.

Candle wax temperature ranges 60-85°C depending on wax type. We supply fragrance compounds with flash points 80-110°C for candle-stability. Indicate “candle grade” in your RFQ.

>110°C — Cedarwood is one of the safest CP-stable EOs available. Excellent for masculine soap, men’s-grooming candles.
