Why we charge for samples (and most “free sample” sites should be charging too)
If you’ve sourced from Indian suppliers before, you’ve probably noticed every IndiaMART listing offers “free samples”. That’s a lead-conversion tactic, not generosity — the cost of the sample is baked into either your eventual bulk price (you’re paying 1-3% more on the bulk to subsidize the free samples) or absorbed by the supplier discarding the time-wasters.
We charge a small fee + credit it back on bulk. Three effects:
- Filters serious buyers from window-shoppers. A ₹1,500 commitment means you’re actually evaluating, not collecting samples to compare 20 suppliers.
