Buyer FAQ

Why is cardamom more expensive than black pepper?
Cardamom yield is significantly lower per kilo of raw spice + harvest is more labour-intensive. Black pepper is also expensive but has higher yield economics globally.

Indian vs Guatemalan cardamom?
Both available. Indian Kerala cardamom carries the heritage premium; Guatemalan is increasingly important for global supply. Origin declared on COA.

Oleoresin vs essential oil?
Different products. Essential oil is volatile distillate; oleoresin is solvent extract including non-volatile + pungent compounds. Black pepper oleoresin contains piperine (the “heat” molecule); essential oil does not. We supply both — confirm at PI.

Minimum order?
1 kg sample → 5 kg pilot → 25 kg → FCL.

Food-grade FCC?
Yes — FCC + FEMA listed for both.

Buyer FAQ — extended

Green vs Black cardamom — which is commercial?
Green (Elettaria cardamomum) is the F&F + flavour commercial workhorse. Black cardamom (Amomum subulatum) is used in Indian cuisine but rarely processed to essential oil form. Our default supply is green cardamom EO.

Black pepper EO vs oleoresin — which has the heat?
Oleoresin contains piperine (the “heat” molecule). Essential oil does not — the EO is purely the volatile fraction. For “spicy” finished products that need piperine, use oleoresin or a piperine-enriched extract.

Kerala vs Guatemala cardamom?
Kerala is the heritage origin. Guatemala has become a major export-grade source for global F&F. Both available. Origin declared on COA.

Indian black pepper vs Vietnamese?
Indian Kerala is heritage premium. Vietnamese is cost-competitive workhorse. Both available; piperine content typically similar.

Minimum order?
1 kg sample → 25 kg HDPE drum → 180 kg → FCL on both EOs. Oleoresins on smaller-tier minimums.
